Should You Use A Crib Convertible Or Not? Here Is How To Find Out

Needless to say, some crib convertible pieces can come with a very hefty price tag. However, more and more people are buying this kind of furniture because it usually has a life span of up to ten years (or more.) Compared to the other beds for infants, convertibles can serve a child’s needs from infancy until later on in life. So if you are still deciding whether you want one for your child or not, here are some things to consider:

1. Budget. Again, crib convertible pieces are a lot more expensive than say, a bassinet basket, or a standard crib. However, convertibles can easily set up for a child as he or she reaches the toddler stage; and then can be transformed into a day bed later on. This mean that you don’t have to dispose of the baby’s crib to give way to a toddler bed, or dispose of the toddler bed to give way to a normal sized-bed. Pieces like this, especially when chosen carefully, can be a great investment for the future.

2. Availability of floor space. Because convertibles are usually made up of more solid materials (as compared to the materials for bassinet furniture); it is essential that a lot of space be accorded for it. This is not a particular problem when it comes to using the furniture as a crib in the nursery, but may pose as a problem when used as a day bed in the same space. However, a little furniture arranging in the room can usually solve this problem.
